Rodrigo A. Gonzalez joined the firm as a partner in 2003 upon the merger of Poles, Tublin, Patestides, & Stratakis, LLP and Gonzalez & Weichert, P.C. His practice concentrates on commercial transactions, real estate transactions and financing, as well as civil and commercial litigation. Since joining the firm, he has also become an important member of the maritime practice group. While in law school, Mr. Gonzalez was a contributor to the Fordham University Law School Environmental Law Journal.   

Mr. Gonzalez began his career as an associate attorney in mid-town boutique defense firms practicing in the areas of premises liability and medical malpractice litigation.  In 1994, he was a founding member of Stern & Gonzalez and served as the managing partner for the firm’s New York City office in lower Manhattan.  In 1998, the firm added a new partner and became known as Gonzalez & Weichert, P.C.  The newly named firm maintained offices in New York City as well as Livingston, NJ.  Mr. Gonzalez was asked and agreed to serve as managing partner for the entire firm.  He served in this capacity until its merger with Poles, Tublin, Patestides & Stratakis, LLP in 2003. During his career, Mr. Gonzalez has successfully completed the closing of residential and commercial properties in both New York and New Jersey with a gross value of nearly $500,000,000.   

Mr. Gonzalez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University in 1986 and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1990. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the National Hispanic Bar Association as well as the North American Chilean Chamber of Commerce in New York City, The Chilean American Chamber of Commerce located in Santiago, Chile and the Chilean American Foundation in Washington, D.C.  In 1994, he was admitted to the New York State Bar, the U.S. District Court’s Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. He was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar and the U.S. District Court’s New Jersey District in 1996. In addition to English, he speaks, reads and writes in Spanish.
